Alex Boulet
Hello everyone, my name is Alex Boulet. I am your Lakehead University Student Union Sustainability Commissioner. It is my responsibility to create a campus atmosphere that fosters healthy, sustainable life choices. I am committed to improving the quality of campus life by raising awareness, building student’s skill sets and taking unified action towards issues that are relevant to Lakehead University students.
We face a broad range of complex challenges that span across the realms of ecological, social, economic and political sustainability. This year we will begin to explore the innumerable opportunities that are now available to us through these challenges.
What role can a university play in changing the status quo? What do gender equality and consumption equity have to do with sustainability? How do challenges faced by our aboriginal communities relate to the sustainability of our region, our country? What about the population challenge and climate change? What is ‘sustainability’? These are the kinds of questions that I will explore with LU students. I am excited to be a part of this very necessary first step that LUSU students are taking and I look forward to working with you all to make Lakehead University a leader in sustainability.
