The 2010 Lakehead University Student Union Executive and Coordinator Elections are set!

After having completed the All Candidates Meeting on Friday, January 22, I'm happy to announce that there are three races; President, Vice President Finance, and Vice President Student Issues. Unfortunatly, there were no applicants for the Coordinator positions in Orillia.

With that being said, we now find ourselves in the Campaign Period, which will run from Monday, January 25 to Monday, February 8. This is when candidates will work to get their support, so expect to see posters, class chats, and much more!

Now there will be two open forum debates, one for each campus. For students in Orillia, the debate will take place on Tuesday, February 2 at 11:30am-1:00pm in your LUSU Office via videoconference. For students in Thunder Bay, the debate will take place on Wednesday, February 3 at 11:30am-1:00pm in The Outpost (date, time, and location may be subject to change). Come out and show your support!

After that, all that is left is the vote itself. The Advanced Polls will be on Thursday, February 4 from 10:00am-7:00pm outside both LUSU Offices. The General Polls will be on Tuesday, February 9 and Wednesday, February 10 from 10:00am-7:00pm with multiple locations on both campuses. If you are unable to attend on all three polling days and you have a valid reason, but still wish to vote, a special ballot may be arranged by email at cro@lusu.ca

Also, if you don't want to run in the elections, but instead make some easy money, we are looking for polling clerks in both Orillia and Thunder Bay for the polling dates listed above. If interested, please email a short resume to cro@lusu.ca by Wednesday, January 27.

If you have any questions, please feel free to write me an email as well at the same address, cro@lusu.ca

Best of luck to all candidates!

Tomas Valiquette
LUSU Chief Returning Officer

General LUSU Health and Dental Plan information

A little confused about the LUSU Health and Dental Plan? Here are some questions and answers that will hopefully be helpful to you:

Q: Can I use the same benefits card as I had last year?
A: Yes
