Lakehead University’s Black Liberation Collective (BLC) is a club which consists of openminded young adults who have an interest in expanding their social awareness. BLC originated in 2015 between the students at Missouri and Ryerson University, the international movement challenges anti-racism in post-secondary institutions in every way that it manifest. The group grew very popular and inspired different students to both expand BLC and create clubs such as Ryerson University’s Indigenous Student’s Rising (BLC Ryerson 2015). At our university we aim to dedicate this collective towards guiding others towards developing both an insight and appreciation, when it comes to the diverse amount of social justice issues which impact different cultural and ethnic groups globally. We promote community within our campus to bridge the gap between our divided social differences to make our society a better place starting with our campus.
