Barista Job Description
The Study is owned and operated by the Lakehead University Student Union and is one of Lakehead’s best kept secrets. Located in the University Center, it is the perfect place for students to come and relax, study, meet with friends, or enjoy a fantastic cup of locally brewed coffee.
The Study is a licensed café, offering a variety of locally made, grab and go foods, as well as hot, sit down meals. It is the ideal place to grab a beverage between or after classes.

Duties and Responsibilities
Duties include providing great customer service, preparation of hot and cold beverages and food products, cleaning and sanitizing of work area and customer seating areas, adhering to provincial laws and health regulations, regular stocking, rotation and dating of products, receiving and processing customer payments, regular communication with the manager regarding potential safety concerns, performing any roles assigned by the Study manager.
Requirements and Qualifications:
The potential candidates must possess the ability to provide excellent customer service, excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, effective problem solving skills, the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, basic computer and math skills, flexibility (ability to work early mornings, days, evenings, weekends as needed), the ability to stand for long periods of time, must be able to lift 50 pounds. Applicants must be Smartserve certified to be considered for the position. Safe food handling certificate is also an asset or previous restaurant, retail or customer service experience.
