Food Forums:

What it is: monthly talks, discussions, and activities on a variety of food-related topics. New topic each month

When: Monthly

  • September 14th 2pm: What is Food Insecurity? What is the Food Resource Centre with Dr Barbara Parker
  • October 26th 2pm: Sustainability and Beeswax wrapping workshop with Erin from Eco superior
  • November 9th 2pm: Food and Mood with Irene from health and wellness

Chopped U:

What it is: LUSU Food Resource Centre, in partnership with the Nanabijou Childcare Centre presents Chopped U Cooking Classes. Learn a new affordable, nutritious, culturally-diverse, vegetarian recipe each month! Learn a new recipe, develop cooking skills and eat a meal! With a guest each month. Pre-registration required. Limited spots available. Email us for more information!

When:

Monthly: October, November, January, February, March

Cost: for students $5

Good Food Box:

What it is: Fresh fruits and vegetables at a subsidized cost offered once a month! LU is a distribution site, program is run through the Northwestern Ontario Women’s Centre. Advanced sign up required, email FRC@lusu.ca for more information. 

When: Monthly (3rd Wed of each month)

Cost: for students $5

Peoples Potato:

What it is: Free lunch for students every Thursday at the Food Resource Centre 

When: Thursdays 12-2 while quantities last

Cost: for students free

Food and Finance Planning:

What it is: Have free snacks, learn budgeting advice, how to coupon, resources available to you (such as the Flipp app and the FRC), and how to meal plan and prep.

When: Monthly, 3rd Tuesday of the month from 1-2pm

Cost: for students Free
