RATE OF PAY: $16.60/hour
EMPLOYMENT TERM: ASAP to April 1, 2024
HOURS OF WORK: up to 10 hours per week
The Social Media Assistant will use creativity and initiative to find new methods of engaging students online and will be involved in creating content that fosters school spirit and inclusivity. The Social Media Assistant will focus on promoting the offerings and events in The Study and The Outpost.
Content Creation - Under the direction of the Marketing Officer, the successful candidate will propose and create engaging content for the The Study (@thestudycoffeehouse) and The Outpost (@outpostpub) social media channels. This may include the creation of content such as reels, photos, stories, and lives.
Social Engagement - Sharing content to relevant departments, businesses, groups, etc., sharing/reposting relevant content from partner accounts, and interacting with other accounts, and maintaining a consistent presence on social.
Event & Service Coverage - Attending events to capture video, photo, lives, etc. on campus including in the evenings and on weekends. Event cover eagle may include but is not limited to Tankard Tuesday, Trivia Night, Concerts, Country night, weekly meal/coffee specials, rental packages, drink and food menu.
Creativity, passion and ability to use initiative to create engaging content without constant supervision
Confidence in on-camera speaking
Experience with various social media channels including, but not limited to, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok.
Experience and familiarity with Lakehead University campus life and knowledge of Lakehead University Student Union services and activities.
Experience with shooting and editing video content for social media.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
May be required to attend evening and night events at The Outpost and The Study.
